Lawmakers Push for Stricter Plastic Surgery Laws
After the shocking death of Donda West, 58, following Beverly Hills tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast reduction procedures lawmakers not only in California , but all over the U.S. and elsewhere, are pushing for new laws which may prevent accidental deaths in such Los Angeles and Beverly Hills plastic surgery procedures. One such law, known as SB 1454, would require outpatient facilities to be inspected at least once every three years. Many facilities in which Los Angeles cosmetic surgeons practice are not up to standards. They must be accredited by a state-recognized agency, but current California laws do not require regular inspections.Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter said Donda West's niece asked her tointroduce a bill requiring a health check before a person chooses to havecosmetic surgery. She introduced the "Donda West Law" in February. Donda West had been sent home following her 51/2-hour surgery. A coroner's autopsy report found that West most likely died of heart disease coupled with complications after plastic surgery. But, it said the exact cause of deathcouldn't be known. Dr. Jan Adams, who operated on West, has denied any wrongdoing. Elsewhere, new laws are being formed which educate patients about their doctor’s credentials, etc. Officials cannot stress enough the importance of choosing the right doctor and facility for your Los Angeles cosmetic surgery procedures. At the California Center for Plastic Surgery, just minutes from beautiful Beverly Hills , board-certified Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon Dr.Sean Younai performs regular and large-volume liposuction surgery using the tumescent technique. This procedure involves infiltrating the fatty areas prior to the surgery to help numb the region and constrict the blood vessels to minimize blood loss.
